I know, I know, your feed is full of friends and family moaning, celebrating or simply arguing over the election result and you have no doubt (like me!) have had enough of all things political but with a Tory majority in place, one thing is clear:  Brexit is going to happen.  It won't be quick, it won't be easy and I am sure we have many months ahead of us as the process goes on but what does this new found political clarity mean for Banstead, Epsom and Ewell?

Well, the votes are in, and love him or hate him, The Right Honorable Chris Grayling MP secured his Epsom and Ewell constituency seat with a 53.5% majority of 31,819 votes yesterday and with it and the Conservative majority result, the hope that, despite many political differences of opinion, as a country we can now move forward with more certainty, especially in the property market which has seen heavy damage in the last 3.5 years since the Brexit vote was first announced.  Sellers have been holding back from selling and buyers have been waiting for the right moment to buy, watching the market for a big dip and hoping to bag a bargain.  All because no one really knew what was going to happen next, in or out, another referendum or election, nothing was clear and so we trundled on tentatively, hoping for the best, never really sure whether waiting or selling now was the right decision.

Whether you love or hate the result, people needed certainty and it would seem that now (unless some dramatic u-turn is performed by Boris and Co), we have it.

The £ is rallying massively in the wake of this result, up against all major currencies and as an industry, we we are expecting there to be a lot more activity in the Banstead, Epsom and Ewell property market in 2020, with people knowing where they stand now (love or hate it) and making their moving decisions accordingly and whilst we can't misunderstand or under egg the amount of work still to be done, we are now at the start of the journey rather than at a crossroads wondering which way is next and that can only be a positive.  And while we wouldn’t dare predict what will happen politically, our commitment to helping people buy and sell in Banstead, Epsom and Ewell is guaranteed.

So, with the election done and dusted, it’s a great time to forget all the banter and arguing your views with friends of old across social media and instead focus on Christmasparties rather political ones.  So catch up on some sleep from last nights antics, enjoy each other, respect each other and get out there and have the best Christmas and New Year as the start of this next decade looks like it's going to be one to remember!
